\\\'Rivers to remain just a memory\\\'

Saturday, 19 April 2014

Leaders of the alliance of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD), who are taking part in the three-day ‘Teesta March’, have observed that rivers would remain just a memory to the future generation if justified shares of common rivers’ water are not ensured. The Teesta March has entered the 3rd day today (Saturday). The two-party alliance jointly launched the Teesta March following a rally in front of National Press Club in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon. They organised the programme demanding equal share of waters of 54 common rivers, including the Teesta, flowing from India. While addressing different wayside rallies on their way to Rangpur from Sirajganj yesterday, the left-leaning party leaders also said river waters not only help grow crops but also contribute to building habitat, society and civilization, according to a news agency.
