Activists of local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) staged demonstrations before Benapole Port Police Station on Thursday demanding the withdrawal of a case filed against some BCL men in connection with the killing of a Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) student. Witnesses said BCL men of Sharsha upazila and Benapole municipality units gathered on the premises of police station around 12:30 pm. Later, they staged demonstrations there to press home their demand. Speaking on the occasion, Sharsha upazila BCL general secretary Abul Hossain said the case was filed against the BCL men in a bid save the actual killers. He also threatened to cripple Benapole Port unless the case is withdrawn. Naimul Islam Riyadh, 25, a 4th year student of Environmental Science Department of the JUST, was stabbed by a group of six BCL men on the university campus on last Monday. He died on the way to Jessore Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
