Rizvi questions neutrality of EC

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the Election Commission is not working neutrally, and playing ‘a silent role’ in the lead-up to the Upazila elections.
The BNP leader made the remarks while talking to reporters at the Election Commission  Tuesday.
Earlier, a three-member delegation led by Rizvi went to the Election Commission office at about 2.00 pm and submitted a written complaint to the acting secretary of the Election Commission Sirajul Islam.
The BNP delegation alleged that BNP-backed candidates are being attacked, as well as harassed ahead of the Upazila elections across the country. Besides, their houses are being looted and vandalised and their family members, including women and children, are being tortured, they alleged, according to a news agency.
