Award-winning environmental lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan’s husband has been found in Dhaka some 35 hours after his abduction in Narayanganj city. DMP spokesperson Maruf Hasan said Abu Bakar Siddique was found in Kalabagan around 1:30am on Friday. "A rider identified himself as AB Siddique while police were running a security check on an auto-rickshaw in Kalabagan. His family members confirmed his identity after he was taken to Dhanmondi Police Station," said Maruf Hasan, deputy commissioner of Ramna division. BELA lawyer Iqbal Kabir said Siddique had been brought to Mirpur in a car before his blindfold was taken off. “Later, he started for their Central Road home in an auto-rickshaw. He ran into a police check post on the way.” Rizwana Hasan rushed to the police station on hearing the news. Later, flanked by wife and others, AB Siddique told reporters at Dhamondi Police Station that he was not tortured after he had taken hits and punches during his abduction on Wednesday. Executive director of ‘Hamid Fashions Ltd’, Siddque was returning to his Kalabagan Central Road residence in Dhaka from the factory in Fatulla in his car around noon when he was taken away by armed miscreants from Narayanganj’s Bhuigarh road on Wednesday. Rizwana Hasan, chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers' Association (Bela), lodged a case that evening and claimed people she annoyed with her activism abducted her husband, according to bdnews24.com.
