Students of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) went on an indefinite strike on Thursday afternoon to press home their eight-point demands. The medical students announced the strike after some miscreants beat one of their fellows at a hostel. The demands include setting up a permanent police camp on the campus and closed circuit cameras in all hostels, arrest of the attackers and stopping entrance of the criminals on the campus, and ensuring security of the students and doctors and others. Campus sources said a group of 7-8 terrorists from outside allegedly entered Dr Mukta Hostel and started beating Nazmul Hasan Rishad while he was studying in his room No 9 around 1pm. Protesting the incident, the general students took out a procession on the campus and held a rally at the administrative building where they vowed to continue their strike until the demands are met, according to a news agency.
