Garment manufacturers are strongly trying to expand market in India where presently only eight million pieces are allowed to enter, officials said.
They are planning to organise single country fairs and several buyer-seller meets for more interaction to give a total picture of the local high-quality products to them, they added.
"We are launching drives to different destinations for market expansion," Faruque Hassan, vice-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), said.
Recently a BGMEA delegation has visited Latin American countries like Brazil, Chile and Mexico to find markets there, he told the FE adding "We hope very much to be successful in catching big Indian market."
The manufacturers will hold three fairs of Bangladeshi RMG goods in three different Indian cities -- Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore -- this year, Mr Hassan said.
BGMEA, the apex apparel body, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in May with Confederation of Indian Textile Industries (CITI) to work jointly for raising textile business between the two countries, sources said.
