RMG manufacturers eye big spot orders from US expo

LAS VEGAS (USA), Feb 18 (BSS): Bangladeshi manufacturers of readymade garments (RMG) are participating in a three-day apparel expo in the US resort city of Las Vegas in Nevada, showcasing their latest garment products to get an extra edge in North American market.
The Men's Apparel Guild in California, known as MAGIC International, a leading event manager for apparels industry, is organizing the three-day expo that began on Tuesday.
The fashion exhibition has accommodated over 1100 manufacturers from apparel and garment accessories and footwear sectors who are displaying an array of products including clothing and footwear and garment accessories.
Participants from Bangladesh are showing sweaters, shirts, T-shirts, polo shirts, sweaters, trousers and knit and woven wear.  A major objective of the Bangladeshi participants is to get spot orders from the US buyers.
Talking to the news agency, Md Monzurul Hassan, Chairman of Maya Fashions Enterprises Ltd (MFEL), said his company is participating for getting greater market exposure besides letting the buyers know about the latest trend of Bangladeshi products.
"Apart from product display, we are also disseminating information among buyers in various ways about Bangladesh's initiative to make garment industry more compliance concern," he said.
Gazi Mohammad Monsur, managing director of Funny Sweater Ltd., another participant, said receiving orders from prospective buyers is the main expectation from the fair.
Because of global financial recession and soaring cotton price in the world market, Bangladesh couldn't get expected spot orders. But, Monsur said, expectation of Bangladeshi participants from this show is high this time.
MAGIC orgnises the international trade fair in Las Vegas in February and August every year.
