RMG units to pay half salary before Eid

The government has directs readymade garment (RMG) factory owners to pay workers half of the current month’s monthly salary before Eid. And also to pay Eid bonus to the employees before September 20.
Owners of those factories which are not doing well financially have been urged to clear at least 10-15 per cent of September’s wages after holding discussions with workers.
“The factory owners have agreed to comply with the government’s directive, State minister for labour Mujibul Haque Chunnu told Tuesday.
“We hope the decision will be implemented,” he said following a meeting of the ‘Crisis Management Core Committee’, which is formed to solve grievances of the workers.
He added that the labour guidelines had been vetted and that the gazette would be published Wednesday, according to bdnews24.com.
