RMG worker beaten dead

A human-hauler (Leguna) passenger was beaten to death allegedly by its driver and helper at Telirchala in Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur on Saturday. The victim is Safiuddin Safique, 35, a ready-made garment (RMG) worker of Purbani area of the upazila. Police said Safique had an altercation with the human-hauler helper over fare on Dhaka-Tangail highway as he paid Tk 6 instead of 8. At one stage, the vehicle driver, Babul, and his helper Sohagh beat up Safique with sticks indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was admitted to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police arrested both the driver and the helper, according to UNB.
