RMG worker killed in Savar road accident

A female readymade garment (RMG) worker was killed and another one injured as a bus rammed them in front of Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Ashulia in Savar on Monday. The dead are Mukta Begum, 40, a worker of Youngone Savar Dyeing and Finishing Company Limited at DEPZ. Quoting local people, police said the bus carrying the DEPZ worker rammed the duo while they were crossing on Nabinagar-Kaliakoir Highway around 7:45am, leaving Mukta dead on the spot. Injured, Taslima was rushed to Savar Upazila Helath Complex. Informed, police recovered the body of Mukta and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Infuriated by the news, workers of DEPZ took to the street and blocked the highway, disrupting the traffic movement for about an hour. They also set fire on the bus and vandalised 10/12 vehicles of DEPZ, according to a news agency.
