RMG workers protest \\\'illegal\\\' termination, attack

Workers of Wega Fashions, a readymade garment (RMG) unit in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi, held a rally on Friday protesting ‘illegal termination and attacks on the workers by the owner’ of the factory. The rally was organised under the banner of National Garment Workers Federation in front of National Press Club. Addressing the rally, the workers of the RMG unit alleged that in the name of shifting the factory, the owner had recently terminated all the workers illegally without paying their wages and dues. They alleged that some miscreants paid by the owners attacked the workers to foil their agitation for realising the dues. They also demanded that the government and BGMEA take immediate action to ensure that the owner of the factory pay the wages and dues to the workers. They also demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers, according to UNB.
