RMG workers stage demo for wage

GAZIPUR, July 18: Workers of a readymade garment (RMG) factory went on a rampage demanding wages and festival allowances at Pagar of Tongi in Gazipur of the city on Friday. Police said the workers of Zaber and Zobair Fabrics of Noman Group staged demonstration demanding wage and allowances. The workers vandalised 10 vehicles parked in front of the factory and set fire to the chemical godown of the factory during the agitation. At least 20 people were injured when police lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control. — UNB
