The country's garment workers have urged the government to rein in the abnormal price hike of essentials during the month of Ramadan and increase their wages to Tk5000 from the existing Tk1662.50 for their survival.
"No firm measures or steps have so far been taken by the government and business bodies to beat the essentials' price hike ahead and during the Ramadan," Combined Garment Workers Federation president Nazma Atker said Saturday at a press conference in the city.
