RMTP elevates livelihoods of over 0.75m families

Rural Microenterprise Transformation Project (RMTP) of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has improved the income and livelihoods of over 0.75 million families, said officials at the project-completion ceremony on Wednesday.
The project has strengthened the role of microenterprises in the national economy, claimed the project officials at the closing event at the PKSF office in the city.
RMTP engaged the families through 90 agriculture-based value chain sub-projects.
Among the participants, agricultural production increased by 66 per cent, income rose by 49 per cent and profits grew by 41 per cent.
The six-year RMTP was co-funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Danida.
Nazma Mobarek, secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, attended the event as the chief guest while Valantine Achancho, country director of IFAD Bangladesh, was present as special guest.
The welcome address was delivered by PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader. A presentation on the project was made by Md Habibur Rahman, deputy general manager of PKSF and project coordinator of RMTP.
