Road accidents and loss of lives

It is shocking, to say the least, to know deaths of innocent people under the wheels of a rushing bus or truck. Recently 24 people died from a road accident in Faridpur. We feel sorry for those who lost their near and dear ones. Witnesses said that the driver lost control over the bus and crashed into a roadside tree. Every year hundreds of people die in road accidents and hundreds others become seriously injured and maimed for life. We need to take appropriate steps to stop this.
Road safety is a serious issue and cannot be ignored under any pretext. We see reckless driving on highways. CC cameras should be installed on highways so that the offenders can not get away with such crimes. We lost so many lives in road accidents and our roads have become death traps. If we remain indifferent, who knows, one day we may have the same fate. Our collective apathy towards taking preventive steps against road accidents is costing us dearly.
