Road accidents claim six lives in two districts

At least six people were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Jashore districts on Friday, report agencies.
In Chattogram, three people, including a child, were killed after a CNG-run autorickshaw collided head-on with a salt-laden truck in Chattogram's Patiya upazila.
The incident occurred near Hakkani Paper Mill in the upazila's Military Pool area on the Patiya-Boalkhali road in the early hours of Friday.
The dead are autorickshaw passengers Fahim (5), his aunt Rumi (25) and autorickshaw driver Anwar (55).
Fahim and Rumi hailed from Patiya's Janglukhain union while Anwar was from Boalkhali upazila.
Abdul Baten, sub-inspector of Patiya thana, said the autorickshaw was heading to Patiya carrying passengers, while the truck was heading to Boalkhali.
He said the collision took place when the autorickshaw was speeding down from the Military Pool Bridge while the truck, carrying around eight tonnes of salt, was heading up the bridge at maximum speed. The two crashed, leaving the three-wheeler severely damaged on the scene.
A victim died on the spot while the two others passed away on their way to the hospital.
In Jashore, three people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in Bagherpara upazila of the district.
The dead are Mohammad Siddique Sheikh (50), son of Shukur Sheikh of South Srirampur village of the upazila, Sabuj Hossain (42), son of Shobed Ali of Rajabari village of Nandail upazila in Mymensingh district and Tarek Sardar (35), son of Babu Sardar of Baga village under Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district.
The accident occurred in the area when a Jashore-bound truck hit five people on the side of Jashore-Narail road and the truck fell into the road side ditch in Dakshin Srirampur area around 7:30am, leaving Mohammad Siddique Sheikh dead on the spot and four others injured, said Mritunjoy Biswa, officer-in-charge of Tularampur Highway thana.
Meanwhile, Sabuj Hossain died on the spot when two pickups collided head-on in Karimpur area of the upazila on Jashore-Narail road around 11:30 am and five others were injured, OC said.
The injured four were taken to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, he said.
Another two injured were taken to Narail Sadar Hospital, where Tarek Sardar died while undergoing treatment, the OC added.
