Road blockade programme starts in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI, Apr 24 (UNB): Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad Sunday enforced a day-long road blockade programme in the district protesting recent violence in Ramgarh and Manikchhari uapzilas. The student leaders also demanded punishment to the people responsible for the incidents. Transport movement remained suspended in the district since morning following the blockade programme. Three people were killed, 20 injured and 30 houses burnt on April 17 over a land dispute between indigenous people and Bangali settlers at Shankhola Para in Ramgarh Upazila. Additional police have been deployed at different points to avert any untoward incident.
