Road condition before Eid-ul-Azha
Wednesday, 3 September 2014
After Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha is only a month away from now. Every year, before this Eid too, we see unbearable gridlocks on the highways due to dilapidated road conditions. Only at the last moment, after a lot of uproar, do the Roads and Highways Department authorities try to quick-fix the problem.
Due to hasty repair and renovation, people do not see quality work and the jobs only exact a heavy toll on the economy. The common people have already been fed up with the hackneyed excuses on the part of the authorities concerned. It is time to put an end to this ritual. I hope the communication ministry will remain alert to the bitter realities so that during the coming Eid the home-bound passengers do not have to pass through yet another round of ordeal.
