Road crash kills 10 in Jessore

At least 10 people were killed and 18 others injured as a bus plunged into a ditch beside the Jessore-Benapole Highway after hitting a tree in Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore on Tuesday morning. Assistant superintendent of police Reshma Sharmin of Jessore said the Benapole-bound bus of Sohag Paribahan from Dhaka crashed into the roadside tree at Beneali around 6:30 am and tumbled into the ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving six of its passengers dead on the spot and 22 others injured. The injured were admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital and Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex where one Jamaluddin succumbed to his injuries. Three of the injured died at Jessore Medical College Hospital around 10:00am, raising the death toll to 10, said Reshma Sharmin, according to a news agency.
