Road crash kills seven, injures 35 in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, June 20: Seven passengers were killed and 35 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Konabari under Kamarkhand Upazila in Sirajganj district Wednesday. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Police and witnesses said the accident occurred on the link road at the western end of the Jamuna Bridge at about 10.30am when the Chapainawabganj-bound bus from Dhaka collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction, killing five on the spot while two died in hospital. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital. —UNB
