Road crashes claim five lives in three dists ---

Five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Cox's Bazar, Dinajpur and Gopalganj on Tuesday, report agencies.
In Cox's Bazar, two pedestrians were killed and three injured as a bus knocked them down in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila Tuesday morning.
Their identities could not be known immediately.
The Cox's Bazar-bound bus of Bismillah Paribahan hit them when they were crossing the road in Chakori Habarang area around 8:00 am, said Mohammad Jabed, officer-in-charge of Chakaria thana.
"Two pedestrians died on the spot, "he added.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the bus.
The driver might have lost control over his steering and hit the pedestrians, added the OC.
In Dinajpur, two people were killed and nine were injured in head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Dinajpur's Nawabganj upazila early Monday.
The dead is truck driver Akram, of Pabna's Santhia upazila, and a passenger of the bus, Jannatun Ara, 13, daughter of Ziarul from Dinajpur's Phulbari upazila.
Identities of the injured could not be ascertained immediately.
Tauhidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nawabganj thana, said the accident occurred around 3:30 am when the Dinajpur-bound bus collided with a sand-carrying truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving the duo dead on the spot and nine others injured.
The injured were taken to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, he added.
According to the health complex, some of the injured received first aid and the seriously injured were sent to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur.
In Gopalganj, a motorcyclist was killed as he hit a railings of a bridge in Kashiani upazila of the district on Monday.
The dead is Wahidul Islam (60), hailed from Narail district. He was a former BGB member.
Officer-in-charge of Vatiapara Highway thana Khan Md Shariful Islam said the accident occurred in Pona bus stand area on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at around 11:30. Losing control of the motorcycle, Wahidul Islam hit the railings of a bridge. He was brought to Kashiani 100-bed Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Body was handed over to his family members.
