Road crashes kill 4 in Tangail, Khagrachhari

Four people were killed and five others injured in road accidents in Tangail and Khagrachhari districts on Tuesday. In Tangail, a septuagenarian woman and a teenage girl were killed as a private car, being hit by a bus, plunged into a roadside ditch in Mirzapur upazila in the morning. The deceased were identified as Monwara Begum, 70, and Poly Akhter, 15. Further details about the deceased could not be known yet. Jobaidul Alam, officer-in-charge of Tangail Highway Police, said the bus crashed into the Pabna-bound private car from the capital in front of Mirzapur Cadet College around 9am. Soon after the collision, the private fell into the ditch, killing two of its occupants on the spot and injuring three others, including the drive. The injured were whisked off to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital, said the OC. In Khagrachhari, two people were killed and two others injured as a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Patachhara Paglapara on Khagrachhari-Ramgarh road in Ramgarh upazila in the afternoon. The deceased were identified as three-wheeler driver Mohammad Hanif, 30, and its passenger Mohammad Alam, 22. Police and witnesses said the bus heading for Feni from Khagrachhari hit the auto-rickshaw in the area around 2pm, leaving the two dead on the spot and the two others injured. The injured were first rushed to Ramgarh hospital from where one of them was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. ASP (Ramgarh Circle) M Shahjahan confirmed the accident, according to a news agency
