Road crashes kill 7 in Dhaka city, 2 dists

At least 7 people were killed and 14 others injured in road accidents in Jessore and Rajshahi districts, and Dhaka city on Friday. In capital, two people, including a schoolboy, were killed and another was injured in separate accidents in Motijheel and Jatrabari. A driver of a cosmetics manufacturing company, Akbar Ali, 35, son of Mansur Ali of Konapara under Demra police station, was killed as a bus ran over him the moment he alighted from another bus near Biman office in Motijheel in the morning. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 8am at. In another accident, a moving bus hit a bicycle in Shanirakhra in Jatrabari around 7:00pm, leaving its rider Akbar Hossain, a Class-IX student of Dhania Blue Bird School and College and son of Iqbal Hossain of Rasulpur under Jatrabari Police Station, and his cousin Shuva injured. They were taken to DMCH where doctors declared Akbar dead around 8pm. In Jessore, four people, including a student of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST), were killed and 11 others injured in separate accidents in Chaugachha and Sadar Upazilas in the morning. Three passengers of a human hauler, including a JUST student, died on the spot and 10 others were injured when a goods-laden truck from Churamankathi rammed the three-wheeler at Pultadanga in Chaugachha Upazila around 11:30am. The dead are Abu Hanif, 26, a student of JUST and resident of Tangail district, Khadiza Begum, 48, wife of Habibur Rahman, and Anisur Rahman, 23, son of Aminur Rahman of Chan Dhapra village of Chougachha. Among the injured, five were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital. In Rajshahi, an auto-rickshaw driver, Morshed Ali, 20, hailing from Poba Upazila, was killed on the spot and two other people were injured as a truck rammed the auto-rickshaw at Chouddapay in Rajshahi city around 1pm. The injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
