Road crashes kill two in M’singh

MYMENSINGH, Jan 13 (BSS): Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday.
A rickshaw puller was killed in a road accident in Shambhuganj Bridge area.
The deceased was identified as Shaheen Mia, 30, son of Tamiz Uddin of Madhabpur village under Tarakanda upazila.
The accident took place when a Mymensingh bound truck rammed into his rickshaw around 11.00am, leaving him dead on the spot, said sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station Polash.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Meanwhile, a freeze mechanic was also killed in separate road accident in Dapunia Bazar area on Mymensingh-Phulbaria road under sadar upazila this noon.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, of village Suhila in Dapunia.
Shafiqul died on the spot when a truck bound for Phulbaria from Mymensingh ran him over around 2.00pm, said Mahmudul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
