Road link snapped as bridge collapses in Burimari

Road communications of Burimari Land Port and four upazilas of Lalmonirhat district with the rest of the country have remained suspended since Friday midnight after the girder of a bridge collapsed in Aditmari Upazila. Mohammad Suruj Mia, executive engineer of the Roads and Highways Division, Lalmonirhat, said the girder of Sarnamati Bridge broke down around 12.00am on Friday night due to its dilapidated condition, bringing the communications of Burimari Land Port with the rest parts of the country to a complete halt. Besides, the road communications of Aditmari, Kaliganj, Hatibandha and Patgram Upazilas of the district have remained cut off due to the incident. However, the repair work of the bridge has started on Saturday, according to a news agency.
