Road mishap kills 11 in Khulna

KHULNA, Apr 18 (UNB): At least 11 people were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and a truck at Aranghata near Dhopadi bridge in Dumuria upazila Sunday noon.
All the victims were passengers of the bus and going to Khulna to join the BNP's grand rally later in the after- noon where the party chairperson Khaleda Zia was scheduled to speak.
Of the deceased, five were identified as Juran Sheikh (28), Mofizul (33), Fayez (40), Murad (26) and Abujh (18), all hailing from Narail district. Identify of four others could not be immediately known.
Police said the accident occurred on Khulna-Dumuria road when the Khulna-bound bus from Narail collided head-on with the truck at about 12:30 pm, leaving nine bus passengers dead on the spot and injuring 30 others.
The injured have been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Police seized both the bus and the truck involved in the accident.
