Road mishap kills two doctors in Dinajpur

RAJSHAHI, June 19 (BSS): A scientific seminar on surgery has been turned into a condolence meeting here today following death of two doctors in a road mishap in Dinajpur this morning.
According to the sources concerned, Dr Toibur Rahman (55) and Dr Yousuf Ali (55) both Associate Professors of Surgery Department of Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, met the tragic end of their life when their microbus collided head-on with a truck at Kanaighat under Ghoraghat Upazila of Dinajpur at around 6.30 am.
A seven-member doctors' team, including the two, were coming to Rajshahi from Dinajpur for attending the regional seminar on boarding the microbus.
Sources said five other doctors and a baby were also injured in the accident. Condition of one of them Dr Shamsul Alam, who is undergoing treatment at Bogra Combined Military Hospital, is stated to be the critical.
The death news created pale of gloom among all the fallow doctors and colleagues across the country including those who attended the seminar jointly organised by Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh (SSOB) and Association of Paediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh (APSB) at Rajshahi Medical College Auditorium.
