Road shows in NY, S'pore deferred by a month

The government has deferred its planned road shows in New York and Singapore by one month to January next year considering the Christmas and new year vacation but kept the mid-December's London event unchanged.
The energy ministry in a meeting Thursday decided to hold the London road show as per its previous schedule on December 15 next and deferred Singapore and New York road shows to January 25 and January 28 next year respectively, said a senior official of the energy ministry.
The government will offer energy projects worth $5.0 billion to global firms for investment during the overseas road shows that will highlight building up of several large power plants to generate 4000 megawatts (mw) of electricity and installation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
The New York and Singapore road shows were earlier slated for December 17-19 and December 21-22 this year respectively.
Estimated cost for the road shows is around $300,000.
During the road shows the government would urge the reputed international companies to make investment in the $4.0 billion power projects and $1.0 billion LNG terminal.
The power plant projects that will be put on offer for investment during the overseas road shows include 450-megawatt (mw) Bibiyana, 450-mw Meghnaghat and 225-mw Bhola projects.
Four coal-based power plants for generation of a total of 2,000 mw of electricity, and two furnace oil-run IPP projects for generation of 100 mw of electricity each at Savar and Kaliakoir are also planned for offer for investment.
