Road, train crashes kill 10 in four dists

At least 10 people were killed in separate road accidents in four districts on Friday, report agencies.
In Feni, An auto-rickshaw driver and a woman were killed when the vehicle was hit by a truck near Panchgachia in the district.
The deceased were identified as Md Shakil, 20, from Momarispur village and Jesmin Akter, 45, from Yakubpur village in Daganbhuiyan upazila, said Md Abdus Samad, officer-in-charge of Mohipal highway police station.
Four other passengers who sustained injuries in the accident were admitted to Feni General Hospital, he said.
The accident occurred around 12:00 pm when the Noakhali-bound truck collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction on Feni-Noakhali regional highway.
In Gopalganj, at least five construction workers were killed and another was injured as an express train hit a concrete mixer machine in Kagdi rail crossing area under Kashiani upazila last night.
The deceased were identified as Suraj Mridha, 35, son of Bijay Mridha, resident of Lakshipur village of Parulia union of Kashiani upazila, Paritosh Das,30, son of Nirod Das, Amrit Biswas, 35, son of Robin Biswas, Hiraman Biswas, 45, son of Maher Biswas and Razzak Sikder, 40, son of Malek Sikdare, residents of Parulia village of the upazila.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Station of Gopalganj Deputy Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad said the accident occurred when a Tungipara Express train from Rajshahi hit the concrete mixer machine while it was passing through the rail crossing area around 9.30pm, leaving five workers dead on the spot and another injured.
In Kurigram, a worker died after a paddy-laden truck he was traveling in flipped over and trampled him on Chandipur Bridge in Nageshwari upazila in the small hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gafur, 50, a resident of Daknirpat village under the upazila.
Amzad Hossain, an eyewitness, said the accident occurred when the driver of the truck coming from Nageshwari lost control of the vehicle on Kurigram-Nageshwari road around 12.30 am.
In Joypurhat, two people were killed and another was injured in a collision between a truck and a charger van in Pachbibi upazila of the district Friday morning.
