‘Robber’ dies in Chattogram ‘gunfight’

CHATTOGRAM, May 05 (UNB): A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Puichuri in Banshkhali upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Bahadur Dacoit (43), a resident of the upazila. He was wanted in several cases, RAB sources said.
A RAB-7 team raided Puichuri around 4:15 am after being tipped off that robbers were gathering there, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Mashkur Rahman of the elite force.
The robbers opened fire on the elite force, triggering a gunfight. Bahadur was killed in the skirmish but others managed to flee.
Two firearms and 23 bullets were also recovered from the spot.
