Robber hurt in cops\\\' firing in Satkhira

An alleged robber was injured in police firing during a robbery incident in Katia area of Satkhira district town on early Thursday. The injured was identified as Shahjahan Ali, 48. Police quoted the locals as saying that a gang of armed robbers entered the house of Abdur Razzak at about 2:30am breaking open the door in the area and kept the house members hostage at gunpoint. Later, the gang chopped Abdur Razzak and his son Murad Hossain, 18, as they tried to resist the gang members. Being informed, police rushed in and chased the robbers. At one stage, the law enforcers opened fire on the gang members, leaving Shahjahan Ali injured. Later, police arrested injured Shahjahan while his other associates managed to flee the scene. Injured Shahjahan was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital under police custody. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Emdad Sheikh confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
