A man was killed and three policemen were injured in a 'shootout' between cops and 'robbers' on Ramu-Naikkhongchhari Road at Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday night. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet. Police claimed him to be a robber. Appela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station, said a police patrol team came under an attack by a gang of 'armed robbers' who fired shots at the law enforcers on the Ramu-Naikkhongchhari Road around 9:30pm, leaving assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Milton Dey bullet-hit. Police in retaliation fired back leaving a ‘gangster’ dead on the spot. Two police constables were also injured in the attack. Later, police recovered two firearms and four rounds of bullet from the spot. The injured ASI was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital from where he was later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, according to UNB.
