\\\'Robber\\\' killed in city gunfight

A 'robber' was killed in a gunfight between police and a gang of bandits at Badda in the city on Thursday. The dead is Badshah, 28. Tipped off that a gang of robbers was going to hold a clandestine meeting at Post Office Goli under Badda Police Station at dead of night to chalk out a plan to commit robberies, police appeared in the area. As the police challenged the gangsters, numbering three, at about 11:45 pm, they opened fire at the law enforcers, triggering a gunfight which lasted for about 45 minutes. Badshah was caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet injuries. After the gunfight ended, police searched the spot and rescued Badshah. He was arrested along with one pistol, eight bullets and two magazines. Two sharp weapons were also recovered from the spot. Police whisked him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 1:20 am, according to a news agency.
