Robber killed in gunfight with police in Magura

MAGURA, Apr 18: A robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Magura at the early hours of Saturday. The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, 50.
Magura assistant police super Shudarshan Kumar Roy informed, during a patrol duty police found a tree log blocking Moghi area on Magura-Jessore road around 4am.
While police was making attempt to move the tree from the road a gang of several robbers opened fire on police. In self-defence police also opened fire on the robbers.
At the time the gang leader Rafiqul Islam sustained bullet injury. In a critical condition he was sent to Magura sadar hospital where he died under treatment.
Rafiq was accused in 29 cases including robbery, murder and illegal arms possession. Police recovered one pipe gun, 2 rounds of bullets and 4 live bombs from Moghi area left by the robbers. litan1968@gmail.com
