\\\'Robber\\\' killed in Jessore \\\'gunfight\\\'

BENAPOLE, Mar 17 (UNB): A suspected robber was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Panchbaria on the Jessore-Magura Highway in Jessore town early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Yunus (40), son of Yakub Ali, a resident Bhallukghar village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore district. Tipped off that a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery on the highway by placing logs, a team of police went to the spot at about 4:30 am, said Officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station Akkas Ali.
Sensing the police presence, the robbers opened fire on the law enforcers and hurled crude bombs, prompting the policemen to fire back, triggering a gunfight.
