Robber shot in Satkhira ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was shot and wounded in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Chhoyghoria in Sadar upazila on Friday noon. The injured was identified as Mobasser Hossain Madhu, son of Abdul Aziz of Mathurapur village in the upazila. Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Enamul Haque said being tipped-off, a team of police arrested Madhu from Lafsa village around 11am. Later, the police team along with Madhu conducted a drive at Chhoyghoria to recover arms around 12pm. Sensing the presence of police, associates of Madhu fired gunshots at the law enforcers to snatch Madhu from police custody, triggering a gunfight that left Madhu injured with bullets. Critically injured Madhu was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hosital. Police said Madhu was wanted in 11 cases including of killing and robbery, according to UNB.
