Robber suspect lynched in Sylhet

A suspected robber was killed and three others were injured in a lynch-mob attack while taking preparation for committing robbery in Shibganj area in Sylhet city on Friday. The deceased was identified as Iqbal Hossain, 32, son of Shamser Ali of Jugirgoan village of Doarabazar Upazila of Sunamganj district. Police said a gang of bandits disjoined the electricity connection to the house of Mohsin Chowdhury at Senpara and covered the CCTV camera with a piece of cloth to enter the house in the early hours. However, the house inmates sensed the presence of the robbers and informed neighbours of it over telephone. Later, the neighbours rushed out of their houses and encircled the hoodlums. The angry mob managed to catch four of the robbers and gave them a good thrashing before handing them over to police. Police took the injured robbers to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where Iqbal succumbed to his injuries around 11am, according to a news agency.
