FE Report
Robbers killed the security guard of a state-owned bank after failing to loot money from its vault at Sutrapur in the capital Monday midnight, police said.
The victim was identified as Abdul Jabbar Mia (48), a security guard of Sonali Bank Forashganj branch.
Sub-Inspector of Sutrapur police station BM Forman Ali said, being informed, they recovered the bloodstained body of Jabbar from inside the branch and sent it to Mitford Hospital for autopsy. "Jabbar might have been killed with an iron rod as injury marks were found on the victim's head," he added.
Bank officials said they closed the office at about 8:00 pm Monday and their cleaners found three of its gates open in the following morning and recovered the naked body of the deceased before informing them.
"It's quite clear that the culprits murdered him (Jabbar) as he tried to resist them," a senior bank employee said, adding that some furniture and papers were damaged during the robbery bid.
The police officer said they were investigating into the incident.
