Robbers loot 25 buses carrying bridal party in Savar

Robbers looted gold ornaments and cash worth Tk 0.5 million from 25 buses belonging to a bridal party at Savar in the outskirts of Dhaka city on Monday night. The victims and the locals said a gang of robbers placed barricades on the road at Kalma under Savar upazila. The bandits intercepted the buses carrying the bridal party to Rasulpur in Ashulia from Arpara in Savar around 11:00 pm. Dipak Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Savar Police Station, said when the buses reached Kalma, the gangsters blocked the road and looted gold ornaments and money from the passengers at gunpoint. As the passengers resisted the looting, the robbers beat up them, leaving 10 of them injured. The injured were admitted to a local hospital. On information, a team of police rushed to the spot, but could not arrest anyone as the robbers managed to escape, according to UNB.
