Robbers loot 250 tolas gold at Ashulia

Armed robbers stormed into a jewellery shop in Ashulia EPZ area of Savar on Sunday evening and looted 250 tolas of gold ornament. Witnesses said a gang of 8-10 masked bandits swooped on ‘Pijus Jewellers’ situated at ‘Shamser Plaza’ at Balivadra Bazar around 7pm. The hoodlums took shop owner Prafulla Chandra Dey and three employees hostage at gunpoint and took away the gold ornaments. Later, they blasted 25-30 crude bombs and made away with the booty after creating a panicky situation in the area. As the robbers got stranded in traffic jam near Fantasy Kingdom at Jamgarah, they exploded 8-10 more crude bombs to make their passage safe. Meanwhile, traders of the market alleged that the robbery was committed in the presence of patrol police, according to a news agency.
