Robbers loot city jewelry shop injuring 1

Robbers have shot and wounded a man while robbing his jewelry store at Old Dhaka. Suman Sutradhar, 36, owner of ‘Dhar and Co’ at Tantibazar, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the attack which took place at around 1:30pm Wednesday. He was shot in his left thigh, said Inspector Mojammel Haque of the DMCH outpost. Seven to eight armed men attacked the shop, causing people to flee in panic, said shop employee ‘Swapan’. He could not immediately indicate the worth of the jewelry looted. But other workers said a hundred bhoris (1 bhori = 11.664 grams) of gold ornaments had been carried away. Police have begun investigations, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner Abdul Salam. ‘We are trying to find out how many pieces of jewelry have been looted,’ according to bdnews24.com.
