Robbers loot jewellery in N'ganj, one guard dies

NARAYANGANJ, Jan 12 (UNB): Robbers looted cash and gold ornaments from a jewellery shop at Nayapur Bazar in Sonargaon Upazila early Thursday.
Harun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon thana said a gang of armed robbers entered 'Rita Jewellers' owned by Tapan Kumar Das by breaking the collapsible gate open at around 1.00am.
The bandits took three night guards including Chan Mia (56), to a nearby field at gunpoint and tied up their hands and legs and later put scotch tape their mouths.
The bandits also covered them with some banana trees.
Later, the robbers looted 50 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 12,000 in cash from the jewellery shop and decamped with the booty.
