Robbers loot valuables injuring 5 in Ashulia

Robbers injured five members of a family and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk 10 million from a businessman’s house in Ashulia upazila in Savar on Saturday. Locals said a gang of 15-20 masked robbers stormed the house of Haji Muladi Mandal in Mirer Changaon area by breaking open the main gate and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. They looted over 100 tolas of gold ornaments, US dollar worth Tk 300,000, Tk 1.3 million in cash and other valuable items, including a shotgun, from the house. The handlooms also beat up the house inmates when they tried to resist, leaving five people injured. On information, police visited the spot. Officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Sheikh Badrul Alam confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
