Robbers shoot, wound house owner in city

Robbers shot and wounded a college teacher during a robbery at his house at Uttara in the city Monday, police said.
Khairul Bashar (42), assistant lecturer of Rajuk Model School & College, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to the Uttara branch of Bangladesh Medical College Hospital.
Family members of Bashar told reporters that the robbers stormed into their residence at sector-6 after breaking open the collapsible gate and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint before taking away valuables, including gold ornaments and cash.
Later, the criminals shot in the leg of Bashar as he tried to resist the miscreants and left the place without facing any resistance.
Officer-in-Charge of Uttara police station Abdur Rahim said they conducted drives at various city spots to recover the snatched valuables as well as to arrest the criminals involved in the robbery.
A case was filed with some unnamed robbers in this connection.
