Robbers have allegedly taken away Tk 0.3 million in cash and 50 tolas of gold from the residence of a retired banker in the early hours of Monday in the capital's Jatrabari area, police said.
The name of the banker is Delowar Hossain (65). He was an employee of Habib Bank.
The family members said a gang of 12-15 robbers stormed into the house by breaking the door open at Khijirgaon of Matuail Paschimpara at about 2:30am and started looting after making the housemates hostage at gunpoint.
The robbers struck Delowar with a sharp weapon as he tried to resist them, leaving him injured.
