Robi-Daily Star English Language Fair starts in city

An English Language Fair, initiated by Robi and The Daily Star, kicked off in the city Wednesday, aiming at developing English language skills among the secondary school students across the country.
The fair, titled 'Shafollo Ashbei', started at 11:00 am at St Joseph School in Mohammadpur, and will be held in other schools gradually.
Director General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Directorate Professor Md Noman-ur-Rashid inaugurated the programme.
The programme, coordinated by the Ministry of Education, is designed to increase the scope as well as scale of secondary school students' English language learning by organising English language fair in 1,000 schools across the country.
The Daily Star editor Mahfuz Anam, and Robi executive vice president Mahmudur Rahman and vice president Segufta Y Samad attended the inaugural ceremony.
Students of St Joseph School participated in various activities on English learning at the daylong fair. A movie was also screened. Afterwards, they took part in spot quiz on vocabulary, learning moral lesson, one word question, extempore speech, role playing, writing and picture-describing competition. They also entertained the audience by reciting poems, telling jokes and singing songs.
At the end of the programme Robi chief financial officer Mahtabuddin Ahmed handed over awards to the winning students. Students of St Joseph School also formed an English Language Club.
