Role of field level women officers lauded

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury Wednesday said the district and upazila level women affairs officers have been playing a vital role in women development and their empowerment, reports BSS. "The government has sent a proposal for upgrading the status of district and upazila level women affairs officers to the Establishment Ministry," she said while addressing a two-day conference of the District Women Affairs Officers at BIAM auditorium in the city. Chaired by Director General of the Women Affairs Directorate Md Mosharaf Hossain, the conference was addressed, among others, by Secretary to the Women and Children Affairs Ministry Tarique-ul-Islam, Director of the directorate Nizam Uddin Al Hussaini and Khulna District Women Affairs Officer Nargis Fatema Jamil. The state minister said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for the development of women and their empowerment. She urged all to work with honesty, sincerity and efficiency to implement programmes on women development.
