JS body for adjusting country's fuel price with int'l market

The Parliamentary Committee on Public Undertakings on Tuesday recommended adjusting the price of fuel in the country with the international market, reports BSS.
The parliamentary watchdog suggested it to the concerned ministry, said an official release.
The committee made the recommendation at its 15th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its Chairman A S M Feroz in the chair, the release added.
The committee members also recommended necessary measures to increase the storage capacity of refined and unrefined fuel of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and to maintain adequate funds during emergencies.
Committee members Mostafizur Rahman, Omor Faruk Chowdhury, Md. Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Md Zillul Hakim attended the meeting, among others.
The Parliamentary Committee on Estimates expressed on Tuesday its optimism over Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project for minimizing the shortage of electricity in the country.
The committee members expressed their optimism over the power plant project at a press briefing after visiting units 1 and 2 of the project site in person with committee chairman Md Abdus Shahid in the chair, a press release said.
Committee members A B Tajul Islam, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Ahsan Adelur Rahman and Khadizatul Anwar were present.
Besides, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman and Local Lawmaker Nuruzzaman Biswas were also present on the occasion.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Project Director and concerned officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were present during the press briefing.
