Rotten goods at Ctg port yards to be destroyed

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 11: The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and Chittagong Customs House (CCH) have decided to destroy expired imported goods loaded in 382 containers in the current month.
There are 136 refer containers loaded with meats, fish and rotten goods, 32 with dry goods. Besides some containers are at the off-docks loaded with onion, fruits, etc., sources said.
The CCH did not release the goods as the importers did not clear the taxes of the imported goods.
As a result, the goods got rotten and expired.
So, the subcommittee that was formed to take a decision on the issue held a meeting on August 29 last and took the decision to destroy all expired and rotten goods loaded in 382 containers in the current month.
Officials of CCH said that the process to destroy the rotten goods loaded in 382 containers would start in the current week.
Officials of CPA said that the rotten goods loaded in 382 containers would be destroyed to clear the yards of Chittagong port.
