Roundtable on TB held in Magura

MAGURA, Aug 30: Every year a total of 8.8 million people in the world get attacked with tuberculosis (TB) while 1.4 million of them face death. This was revealed at a roundtable conference held at Magura press club auditorium on Thursday.
The conference titled 'Tuberculosis Control Programme and Participation of all Classes People', jointly organised by National Tuberculosis Control Programme, health directorate, Health and Family Planning Ministry, BRAC and Magura press club also revealed that in the past death was an inevitable result for the TB patients but science now has overcome this deadly disease.
Expressing optimism the speakers said that the number of TB patients could be reduced by 50 percent within 2015.
Local journalistas, officials of Health and Family Planning department and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) participated in the programme.
With president of Magura press club advocate Dipak Roy Chowdhury in the chair the conference was addressed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Magura Sushanta Kumar Saha as the chief guest while the Superintendent of Police Zihadul Kabir and Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Shafikul Alam spoke as special guests.
